Knutson Piano Tuning & Repair is a locally owned and licensed company in Spokane, WA. We are owned by Mr. Ken Knutson, a registered piano technician. Ken Knutson trained in piano technology
with his wife, Jenny, at Western Iowa Technical School in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduation, they began living in Spokane, WA in 1983. In 1984, he was hired as a firefighter by the Spokane Fire Department, which meshed well with his vocation as a piano tuner and technician. Philosophically, it has worked well, as Ken likes caring for pianos as well as people. Since retiring from firefighting, he has been able to devote himself fully to piano work. He has worked with District 81 for several periods of time, tuning and repairing Spokane school pianos.
Ken’s training and experience has been enhanced by his participation in the local chapter of the Piano Technician’s Guild
and the continuing education available through it as well as the Guild’s regional and national conventions. He has also achieved the level of Registered Piano Technician by passing rigorous testing set for high standards. Mr. Knutson has been a member of the PTG for over 25 years.
Jenny Knutson is the piano teacher featured on our website. Mrs. Knutson has a B.A. in music from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA, where she studied organ performance. She has over 15 years of experience
as a piano instructor and has been playing piano and organ for more than 40 years. Her students range in experience from beginner to intermediate. She accepts students as early as 1st grade level. She also enjoys and encourages adults to give themselves a treat by taking lessons. Jenny serves as organist and choir director of Hope Lutheran Church in Spokane Valley.
